Why We Built Servra: Making Food Ordering Feel Less Like Work
There's a restaurant I really like. The food is good. I already know what I want before I reach out. And yet, every time I want to order, I know what's coming.
The response takes a while. Someone has to send the menu. I ask something, wait, ask again, wait again. Eventually I think: maybe I'll just go there myself.
The restaurant isn't doing anything wrong. They're busy running a business — customers inside, orders being prepared, deliveries being coordinated, staff doing five things at once. But from where I'm standing, I just want to order food.
That frustration became Servra.
Why not just another ordering app?
Plenty of food delivery platforms already exist — download an app, browse menus, checkout, wait. They have their place. But most restaurants already have something more powerful than an app: WhatsApp. Their customers already know the number, already message it, already order through it.
So instead of moving customers somewhere new, we asked: what if we made the conversation they already have work better?
What Servra actually does
Servra is an AI Order Agent that sits on a restaurant's existing WhatsApp number. A customer sends something like "Hi, I'd like two chicken burgers and a Coke" — text or voice note — and Servra pulls the menu info, collects the order, calculates the total, and hands it to the restaurant to confirm or reject.
Chat. Order. Done.
The customer never needs to know Servra exists
Servra doesn't introduce itself. It doesn't say "Hi, I'm your AI assistant." The restaurant's number is still the restaurant's number, and the conversation still feels like talking to the business — Servra is just the intelligence running quietly behind it. We think the best technology doesn't announce itself; it just makes things easier.
We're building for the busy restaurant
Not a fictional restaurant with a perfect team and someone free to answer every WhatsApp message instantly. We're building for the owner juggling the kitchen and the phone, the staff member handling five things at once, the business getting more messages than it can comfortably keep up with. That's where AI becomes genuine leverage — not a replacement for the people running the business, but backup for the parts they can't scale alone.
We're still early
Servra isn't finished. We're testing, learning, and figuring out what restaurants actually need versus what we assumed they'd need. We'll get things wrong and rebuild. That's fine — we're not trying to look good in a demo. We're trying to work on a real Friday night when a real customer sends "Please, I want to order."
That's the only test that matters.
Chat. Order. Done.
